George and Chloe first met when they both took Fundamentals of Writing class during their sophomore year of high school. From there they became fast friends and had quite a few mutual friends during the rest of high school!
The summer after their senior year of high school, they started hanging out quite a bit. Chloe even joined George on his family’s big trip to Kiawah, South Carolina that they took each year; however, the two were adamant that they were “just friends.” The “friendship” turned out to be a pretty great one and the rest is history! After both graduating from the University of Iowa the two did long distance for a few years while Chloe attended graduate school and George began his career in Chicago.
Over the years they have really enjoyed traveling together and in May of 2022, they decided to move to one of their favorite places to visit – Colorado! Since moving to Denver they have had no shortage of weekend trips to the mountains to camp, hike, ski, and explore!
George proposed to Chloe just a few weeks after their 8th anniversary and a few months into their big move to Denver. The two played adult hooky (where you just take PTO) and headed up to Boulder for the day. George had planned the day where they would go to a couple of bars and breweries and then go take a picture for their dog’s birthday. At the second bar Chloe remembers George acting funny and not taking a single sip of his beer claiming to have an “upset stomach.” After the last brewery they went up to the Lost Gulch overlook to take Camp’s 1st birthday picture. George had a different plan and asked Chloe to marry him! Little did Chloe know, George had arranged for both their parents to be there and both of Chloe’s sisters. George was very nervous as there was only one parking spot in the lot – right next to where the families were hiding in the car! We spent the weekend celebrating with our families and friends and loved every minute of it!
They cannot wait to celebrate with you all in Grand Lake in September!
